On January 3, 1986, Director Emeritus and band founder Joseph E. Magno realized a dream when the first rehearsal of the West Chester Band was held with 35 musicians in attendance. With the assistance and cooperation of the West Chester Area School District Administration and Music Department, the band has become a finely tuned organization of over 60 members. Members of all ages reside in Chester County and surrounding counties.
The West Chester Band is an all volunteer Community Concert Band, performing in and around the West Chester, Pennsylvania area since 1986. The band has earned a fine reputation for performing a variety of audience pleasing music. Classics, jazz, marches and contemporary arrangements are all part of our growing repertoire. We perform several holiday concerts in December, a spring concert in conjunction with Immaculata University, and throughout the summer in many locations in the area.
We always welcome new members. All experienced, qualified musicians of high school age or above are welcome to join. Check out our Newsline for regularly updated information and notices. Rehearsals are usually held on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 PM at Immaculata University. If you are interested in joining or have any questions about the band please contact Joe Gehring or send an email from
our website.
